About

Don Jitsu Ryu martial arts classes teach the original 20-style system developed by Grandmaster Professor Don Jacob, not tournament-style karate. Instructors Erik and Deborah Larson run a traditional dojo focused on real-world self-defense, discipline, and building confidence in kids. Classes split by age groups: Little Dragons for 3-5 year olds work on basics, kids 6-11 dive into katas and sparring, and teens 11+ focus on advanced techniques. Trial classes are available, and the afterschool program gives kids extra practice time beyond regular classes.

  Kids focus on skills, sparring, basics, and forms in an extended two-hour Saturday session. Your kid explores the fine details of the Don Jitsu Ryu system and fine-tunes their basics. The longer format allows for more in-depth work on martial arts fundamentals.

• Little Dragons Saturday

  Kids practice basic karate movements and fundamentals in a class designed specifically for younger children to work out safely with peers their age. Your kid focuses on staying safe while learning martial arts basics. The limited age range keeps the class appropriate for little ones.

  Teens work on self-defense, physical fitness, discipline, and building confidence through martial arts training. Your kid learns affirmations, road map of life concepts, and Dojo Kun principles that apply to success both in martial arts and their future. The Don Jitsu Ryu system provides a strong foundation in practical self-defense rather than tournament competition.

• Little Dragons

  Young kids practice martial arts skills and drills in a Saturday class designed specifically for ages 4-6. Your kid gets to work out with peers their own age in a safe environment. The age range is deliberately limited to keep the little ones comfortable and focused.

  Kids practice Don Jitsu Ryu karate in an after-school program format that combines martial arts training with structured care.
