About

A 39-acre scrub habitat with two hiking trails where kids can spot gopher tortoises, butterflies, and explore a former sand dune that rises above the surrounding area. The preserve has both a short paved trail and longer sandy paths through diverse ecosystems including pine woods and cactus areas. Good for families with kids who can follow trail rules, since the area protects endangered species and requires keeping gates closed. The longest trail is about 1.5 miles, and there are benches for rest stops. Parking is very limited with only 5-6 spots and no restrooms, so plan accordingly.
